Motion & Digital
During my tenure at Thanksgiving Point, I focused on building a bridge between physical and digital spaces. These projects highlight how I “activated” legacy print assets for social audiences and led motion-first campaigns to create cohesive, multi-sensory experiences.
CASE STUDY
Power of
Pollinators
The Challenge
Take a library of detailed signage created for Ashton Gardens and transform it into a dynamic, narrative-driven video series.
The Execution
AI-Enhanced Planning: Used generative AI to quickly prototype storyboards and visual flow for rapid creative exploration.
Strategic Asset Management: Repurposed existing illustrations and photography to bridge the gap between static design and motion.
Intentional Motion Design: Focused on subtle movements and clean typographic reveals to keep the educational facts as the primary focus.
Series Scalability: Developed a modular template to ensure future topics can be produced quickly with a consistent look and feel.
The Result
By evolving print assets into versatile social videos, the project demonstrates how to scale a single brand idea across multiple channels and breathe new life into established content.
CASE STUDY
Butterfly Conservatory
Orientation Explainer
The Challenge
As guests prepare to enter the butterfly conservatory, it’s critical to communicate safety and containment protocols quickly and clearly. The challenge was to create a friendly, accessible orientation video that woulde capture the attention of all ages while establishing a consistent visual brand for the exhibit.
The Execution
Character Development & Rigging: Hand-illustrated the lead character (the conservatory’s Containment Director) in Adobe Draw, then built a custom character rig in Adobe Animate to sync with the voiceover.
Layered Compositing: Integrated the animated character into a lush, custom-designed environment within After Effects, using layered greenery and animated butterflies to create a sense of depth and immersion.
Accessibility & Global Design: Incorporated a bilingual (English/Spanish) captioning system to ensure the safety protocols were understood by a diverse audience.
Multichannel Synergy: This video served as the creative foundation for the exhibit, with the character and environment designs later informing physical signage and materials throughout the venue.
The Result
The orientation explainer successfully streamlined the guest entry process, reducing the need for verbal repetition by staff while ensuring 100% compliance with federal containment protocols. The project demonstrated how high-end motion design can serve as a primary brand driver for a physical space.
