Museum of Ancient Life
During my time at Thanksgiving Point, I designed interpretive and environmental graphics throughout the Museum of Ancient Life, working with curators, exhibit staff, and outside vendors to turn scientific content into clear, engaging guest experiences. The work ranged from specimen interpretation and an entrance-gallery refresh to interactive learning graphics, bilingual signage, digital displays, and branded experiences. My role included concept development, illustration, photo sourcing and edting, typography, motion graphics, production-ready artwork, and coordination with printers and the exhibits team through installation.
Ruth the Gorgosaurus
Ruth is one of the most complete and best-preserved Gorgosaurus specimens discovered. I developed a family of interpretive graphics introducting the specimen, telling the Linster family’s citizen-science story, illustrating Ruth’s anatomy, highlighting related specimens, and recognizing the donor family. I worked with museum staff on content, sourced and edited imagery, and prepared the final graphics for production and installation.
Paleo Studio
Paleo studio paired a futuristic lab aesthetic with the museum’s prehistoric setting. I created the visual identity and extended it across digital admission and pricing screens, animated fossil menus, and grand-opening merchandise including a drawstring bag, enamel pin, and sticker. I handled the illustration, layout, motion graphics, and vendor coordination for production.
Exhibit Interpretation
Additional exhibit updates focused on making scientific concepts easy to understand at a glance. These included illustrated signage explaining fossil field jackets and a bilingual graphic system developed for an interactive erosion and stratigraphy experience.
Interactive Learning
What Is a Dinosaur? invited guests to test their assumptions about prehistoric animals. Each station paired a mounted animal image with a question below it asking whether the animal was a dinosaur. Guests lifted the hinged question panel to reveal the answer and a short explanation. I sourced the imagery, designed the graphic system, and prepared the artwork for production and installation.
